Our client is a leading international shipping group looking for a VLCC Dry Dock Specialist to be part of their team based in Asia.
Responsible for overseeing the dry dock projects for a fleet of VLCCs, you will work with the technical team, management company, ship repair yard, classification society and suppliers.
You will be a Docking Specialist, Technical Superintendent or Chief Engineer who has sailed on board VLCCs and must have a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience and a proven track record in handling complex dry docking projects in Asian shipyards (mainly China, India, South Korea). Activities will include:-
- planning, preparation and execution of drydockings
- docking and repair specifications
- shipyard evaluation and negotiation
- repair progress, quality and cost control
- class and statutory survey coordination
- major steel, machinery, cargo system and coating work.
You must also possess strong business acumen and be able to make critical decisions. With good knowledge of working on second hand ships, production methods and applicable rules and regulations, you will need to have strong negotiation skills and prior experience in managing a team of Technical Experts.
Excellent communication skills in English will be essential and willingness to stay at shipyards in Asia. An attractive salary will be offered for the right candidate.
