A challenging opportunity has arisen for a Marine Investigator to join this renowned maritime organisation, with flexibility on being based in London, or one of their European offices (The Netherlands, Germany or Switzerland).
As part of an experienced global team, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise to marine safety investigations. You will collect and analyse evidence from incidents / accidents, prepare accurate and thorough reports, identify safety issues and lessons learned to improve safety, deliver presentations and represent the organisation, all to improve marine safety globally. This unique role provides the opportunity to make a real difference, influencing and improving marine safety on an international level.
With experience at sea as a Master or a Chief Engineer, you will also have experience ashore in marine investigations. A thorough understanding of maritime legislation and marine accident investigations is vital to the role, as are inter-personal skills, tact and diplomacy. You will enjoy working in a good team environment, be able to travel at short notice if required and have excellent critical thinking and analysis skills.
Key requirements include:-
- A degree or equivalent maritime experience
- Marine casualty investigator training / certification
- Fluent English, oral and written communication
- Maritime inspection, audit, and/or survey experience beneficial
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of international instruments (e.g., SOLAS, MARPOL,
STCW, MLC, ISM Code, COLREGS)
- Solid understanding of root cause analysis and human and organisational factors
You must also have existing working entitlement for the UK / EU.
