An opportunity to work for a leading shipping company in the LNG market, as a Commercial Manager you will manage the owners interests with regards to the day to day commercial operations of the fleet. You will supervise the contract management of a fleet of LNG carriers and ensure effective communication and co-ordination with Charterers, respective vessels, shareholders, technical managers and internal support teams. Ultimately you will ensure safe and reliable transportation of LNG and maximise owner profits.

Key responsibilities will include the following:

  • Manage, lead and administer LNG carriers projects, undertaking project management & execution
  • Manage Project Budgets with the Ship Managers
  • Undertake Marine/Operational analysis of potential opportunities
  • Provide Asset Management input in response to tenders
  • Develop relationships with existing and potential clients and other related organisations
  • Provide operational input for contractual compliance matters
  • Ensure compliance with Charter Party requirements and gauge performance of assigned assets as per TCP warranties
  • Ensure assigned projects are built as per Ship Building Contract and in compliance with latest statutory regulations
  • Liaise with Charterers/Customers and drive cost benefits for Owners
  • Liaise with Ship Managers and drive value optimisation by driving OPEX efficiencies
  • Takes an overview of operational performance and provides mentoring and coaching as required to the team
  • Coordinate Ship Managers on technical and operational matters including OPEX budget approval process.
  • Provides advice to Ship Managers on operational and commercial matters with regards to charterer requirements
  • Attend meetings, trainings, seminars and conferences
  • Ensure Owners & Shareholders reports are submitted as per the agreed deadlines, liaise with the finance department and prepare budget documents and analysis for approvals

To be a suitable candidate you should have following:

  • Seafaring background at senior officer level onboard either LNG, LPG or oil tankers 
  • Proven management and leadership skills as this role will involve managing a small team
  • Must have experience working ashore within commercial vessel operations management at a senior level
  • Strong understanding of time charter, shipbuilding contracts and other associated commercial agreements
  • Understanding of the claims handling process
  • Commercial aptitude with a strong communication skills to effectively liaise with key senior stakeholders
