Job Description
Our client is an internationally renowned ship owning company that is looking for a Head of Operations to be based in their Singapore office.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a highly reputable and shipping organisation. You will be responsible for the management and development of the operations team.  Reporting to the General Manager of the Operations Division, you will be leading the Vessel Operations Department.   Your remit will be to oversee all operations functions in an effort to ensure smooth vessel operations, optimisation, utilisation and that processes and procedures are in line with internal business directives and international regulatory regimes. 

Your primary responsibilities will be to:

  • Monitor vessel movements, schedule and port operations
  • Lead the stowage planning team to plan, manage crane splits, restow/rehandling cost and ensure safe handling of cargo
  • Lead the scheduling team on schedule adherence and advise corrective action where required
  • Monitor vessels’ bunker consumption and performance
  • Monitior guidelines and update policy on DG acceptance
  • Work with the Technical Department on optimal vessel design
  • Keep abreast of port and terminal developments
  • Review processes and procedures and set guidelines for both HQ and regional offices

To be successful you must either have a Bachelors Degree in Maritime / Logistics or have seafaring experience to the rank of Master Mariner with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience and possess solid understanding of the shipping business and its challenges and opportunities going forward.  You must have experience in leading a large team.  You will possess excellent communication skills both written and verbal, be systematic, results oriented  and have the ability to work successfully under demanding timelines.
